Disney Hawaii News

When not fretting over computers, I dream of Hawaiian vacations. Here's some encouraging news from Tiki Talk:

Disney announced that it's building a new resort hotel on the island of Ohau in Hawaii. How the company is going to handle this will be interesting — they've were one of the forces behind the polynesian-pop phenomena of the '50s thanks to the Enchanted Tiki Room — yet all the press about the project emphases how culturally sensitive they're trying to be ... it looks as if the early plans are to build an eloborately-themed, thatched main building with more normal-looking wings radiating out from either side, much like the Animal Kingdom Lodge at Walt Disney World in Orlando. In the pool area there appears to be some kind of erupting volcano, so there's a little bit of kitch in the mix.

WINDOWS MAKE WORKERS MORE PRODUCTIVE, STUDIES SHOW

I sputtered in my morning coffee until I read the rest of the headline:

Daylight makes workers brighter

Before SAP Labs designed its new digs in Palo Alto, company executives asked employees how to make it a welcoming place to work. After all, that's where they spend most of their day.

The answer? Windows. Lots of windows letting in lots of light.

Yahoo! Calendar UI

I like to even out my web usage and so have accounts at both Yahoo! and GMail. I just started using the calendar at Yahoo! and was overwhelmed by all the postings by group(s) I belong to clogging up the view. I searched the 'options' and search the help and FINALLY found this (from a fellow user!):

In your Calendar, click the "Options" link in the top right-hand corner. On the next screen, click "Time Guides". There you will see a heading labeled Groups. Below it should be a list of all (or the first 25 Yahoo Groups! you belong to. If there is a check in the box next to the name of the group, its calender/events will appear on your personal calendar.

To change that, uncheck the box, save your changes and you're all set!

Why is this so non-obvious? Maybe Yahoo! should be sold off as a set of parts....
